If War commences Iranians will suffer disproportionate military & civilian loses but whole worlds economy will be at its knees. Because one thing Iran will make sure that all oil wells and refineries of gulf go down with them.

Let me Take You Inside Iran's 2015 Simulated Attack on a Navy Aircraft Carrier. The exercise known as Great Prophet 9, The exercise occurred near Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz. On the island. It is kind of funny that they imagine that blowing a hole in a wooden barge makes them a threat to a real US carrier.

The exercise first, Dozens of small speedboats each armed with an M-08 contact mine swarmed around the mock up. IRGC navy speedboats performed a mining operation to isolate the “carrier” and limit its maneuverability.

During the second phase, the speedboats attacked the giant ship with 107-millimeter rockets, this tactic makes Iran to disable critical self-defense systems, such as radars, Phalanx CIWS self-defense cannons and missile launchers. Next, speedboats armed with small cruise missiles C-704 anti-ship cruise missiles attacked the ship. These fast speedboats fired a barrage of 10 cruise missiles toward the mock Nimitz.

The third phase included a barrage of heavy, shore-launched anti-ship missiles "The shore-launched cruise missiles were Iranian-made Noor missiles". Iran launched two cruise missiles and two ballistic missiles toward the barge in a coordinated attack.

The fourth phase. A commercial Bell 206 helicopter fired a C-704K anti-ship cruise missile. The last phase involved ramming a remotely-controlled suicide boat packed with more than 1,000 kilograms of high explosives.

An attack on one of our ships would be a good reason for us to fight a war. remember the last 3 times we fought a war? WW1, WW2 & Desert Storm. Look what happened to our enemies countries and armies. If we stayed conventional we could level every major city in approx.2 weeks. Figuring a non-stop air, naval and missile campaign we could destroy their entire navy, and airforce and degrade their army 40-50% in 4 weeks.

If Iran didn't sure for peace by then it would take approx. 2 months to get 300+K soldiers into the theater of operations. Most of our tanks and equip. is their already. We could roll thru their depleated army in 2-3 months leaving them with nothing but guerrilla fighter left . Then comes the hard part. Do you pick up and leave or Occupy. I would assume we would learn from history and just leave.

This is not a boast. But any non-superpower country would not be crazy enough to wage war with the US, China or Russia.
