Military Hero's
Military Hero's
First, I cant comment on the bravest because there are so many stories that never make the news. But let me talk about some real stories that happened, Which heroes gave their most precious, they are self-sacrifice.
1-United States of America :
During the month of November 2004 in "Fallujah, Iraq" The man holding the M9 pistol in this picture is First Sergeant Bradley Kasal.
The First
Sergeant Bradley Kasal he was assistingwith his team’sa Combined
Anti-Armor Platoon for "3rd Battalion 1st Marines", Suddenly and
without warninghe heard a large volume of fire erupt to his immediate front.
When First
Sergeant Kasal learned that his Marines were pinned down inside the house by an
unknown number of enemy personnel, he joined a squad making entry to clear the
structure and rescue the Marines inside. He made entry into the first room,
immediately encountering and eliminating an enemy insurgent, as he spotted a
wounded Marine in the next room. While moving towards the wounded Marine, First
Sergeant Kasal and another Marine came under heavy rifle fire from an elevated
enemy firing position and were both severely wounded in the legs, immobilizing
them.
When
insurgents threw grenades in an attempt to eliminate the wounded Marines, he
rolled on top of his fellow Marine and absorbed the shrapnel with his own
body. When First Sergeant Kasal was offered medical attention and extraction, he
refused until the other Marines were given medical attention. Although severely
wounded himself, he shouted encouragement to his fellow Marines as they
continued to clear the structure.
Sargent
Major Kasal killed multiple insurgents with his M9 pistol at this time and by
the time he reached a trauma surgeon he had lost about half of the blood in his
body.It is a miracle that he survived. Sergeant Major Kasal was awarded a Navy
Cross.
2-Russia :
On March
2016, senior lieutenant Alexander Prokhorenko (22 June 1990 – 17
March 2016)of the Russian Spetsnaz was surrounded by the ISIS
terrorists. He called in an airstrike on his coordinates and took out about 50
terrorists with himself.
Sr. Lt.
Prokhorenko was performing the task behind the enemy lines in (Palmyra-Syria)
of designating the vital targets for airstrikes. After a week of staying
hidden, he was spotted by the ISIS terrorists who tried to capture him. For the
entire day he was evading them. He called for an extraction that was sent from
the Russian base, but it would take 15 minutes for them to reach him. Not
having more ammunition to resist and knowing he would endanger the extraction
party, he called his CO and demanded to cancel the extraction and deliver an
airstrike on his coordinates.
Prokhorenko's
body was recovered and repatriated in coordination with Kurdish YPG forces. And
a spokesperson stated his repatriation "was a matter of honor for the
Russian Defence Ministry".
Here is
the radio communication transcript with Alexander’s last words:
Prokhorenko:
Command, I am surrounded, I am surrounded again.
Command:
Please repeat and confirm.
Prokhorenko:
They have spotted me, they are shooting everywhere, I am pinned, requesting
evacuation immediately.
Command:

them for too long, please hurry.

Prokhorenko
gives the coordinates.
Command
repeats the coordinates: Confirm.
Prokhorenko:
Confirmed, please hurry, I am low on ammo, they are surrounding me, bastards.
Command:
12 minutes until evacuation, return to cover, I repeat, return to cover.
Prokhorenko:
They are close, I am surrounded, this may be the end, tell my family I love
them.
Command:
Return to green line, keep returning fire, help is on the way, wait for air
support.
Prokhorenko:
Negative, I am surrounded, there are so many of these bastards.
Command:
10 minutes, return to green line.
Prokhorenko:

my family I love them and I died fighting for my country.
Command:

Prokhorenko:
I can't, command, I am surrounded, they are coming, I don’t want them to take
me. Conduct the airstrike, they will make a mockery of me and the uniform. I
want to die with dignity and take all these bastards with me. Fulfill my last
wish, conduct the airstrike, they will kill me either way.
Command:
Please confirm your request
Prokhorenko:
They are here, this is the end commander, thank you. Tell my family and my
country I love them, tell them I was brave and I fought until I could no
longer. Please take care of my family, avenge my death. Good bye commander,
tell my family I love them…Command doesn't respond, orders the airstrike.
3-British:
Dipprasad he was a Gurkha soldier
serving in the British Army in southern Afghanistan "Helmand"
Province. He was on sentry duty when he heard a noise nearby. Upon
investigating, he identified 3 men Taliban insurgents planting an IED near the
front gate of his base. He realised he was surrounded and was aware of the
imminent attack of the Taliban. Reportedly around 40 Taliban fighters attacked
him from roughly 100 ft away with AK-47, FM PK and RPGs wrecking his guard
post.
Dipprasad
was by himself at the time and he defended his position for over 17 minutes
before support arrived. During that time, he fired off over 400 rounds from his
GPMG, and 6 underslung grenade.
At one
point, a taliban fighter reached his position and started climbing up the guard
post. Initially, his SA80 jammed so Dipprasad picked up, his machine gun tripod
and beat the taliban insurgent down. By the time support arrived he collapsed
from exhaustion. He was awarded the Gallantry Cross by the Queen herself for
his bravery.
4-United States of America :
With the
recent warfare in Afghanistan and Iraq, then 1stLt. Brian Chontosh of
the US Marine Corps was in the 1st Marine Division. His platoon was moving to
Baghdad when they were ambushed by Iraqi troops. Chontosh’s platoon was given
hell with AK-47 fire, RPGs, and grenade flying everywhere. One Marine was
killed and another wounded within seconds.
Chontosh
quickly scanned the area to see where the majority of the enemy fire was coming
from and saw it was coming from a berm and told his driver to directly drive
into the berm. As soon as his vehicle came into contact, he leapt from his seat
and into the trench, losing his “combat virginity” within seconds as he fired
upon troops in close quarters combat.
Eventually
exhausting the ammunition available for his M16, Chontosh switched to his
pistol. When his pistol ran dry, he picked up an enemy AK and continued his
assault. When one AK would finally run out, he would pick up another.
At one
point, he and his teammates picked up a Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher.
While they didn’t know how to use it, the resulting shot was described by one
man as “a ball of fire going down the trench”, By the time he turned around to
head back to his vehicle, he and his men had cleared over two hundred meters of
trenchline.
En route
back to the HMMWV (Humvee), he stumbled across a grenade-armed enemy combatant
who had been playing dead in order to surprise the Marines, who were now out of
ammunition. Reaching on the ground and grabbing individual 5.56mm rounds
discarded from a previous jam, Chontosh quickly dispatched the man using his
M16.
Chontosh
was awarded the Navy Cross, the second-highest award a US Marine can earn for
valor in combat, for killing over twenty men and wounding several others.
5-India:
This one
is about Indian Air Force. You must have heard about Param vir Chakra, India's
highest military decoration awarded for the highest degree of valour or
self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy.
The year
was 1971, the war between India and Pakistan was at its peak. Flying officer of
Indian Air Force Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon was employed in Srinagar along with
others to save Kashmir valley from pakistan air force attack. Date was 14
December 1971.
Suddenly
it was reported that six fighter planes of Pakistan had crossed Indian Border.
Flying Officer Sekhon was on a duty at that time. But before Indian planes
could get enough time for counter action, Pakistani planes were revolving on
their head.
First
plane of Indian Air Force was about to take a takeoff when it started raining
bombs on airstrip. But still that plane decided to tackle enemies rather than
backing off. The pilot of that plane was none other than Officer Nirmaljit
Singh Sekhon.
It was
really a big deal to rise a plane when constant bombs are falling on airstrip.
Airstrip was getting damaged completely. But to everyone's astonishment Sekhon
managed to takeoff his plane.
Now just
imagine a situation for a second, six sabre planes which are far better in
terms of range and attack are taking on a single Gnat plane. As airstrip was
completely damaged, the help from other fighter planes was only expected in
dreams. Sekhon knew that if he quit at that moment they will do a real damage
to our base station and nearby area. And it would be next to impossible to stop
them.
So Sekhon
did the exact same thing that would have made him an immortal in the history
forever. He challenged enemy and started attacking them like a lightning.
Within a blink of an eye, one plane of enemy was on fire and falling down. But
he had no time to relax as other planes were using all their expertise to take
him down. Without wasting much time, he started following another plane and was
doing a constant fire. Pakistani planes completely lost their strategy with
this sudden and unexpected attack.
Now Sekhon
was following one plane and remaining four planes were following him. This
whole incident was being watched by so many people from ground. So his further
mammoth task was to shatter this plane into pieces before the four others would
take him down. Somehow managing to save his plane, he aimed the plane on his
front and fired a shot. Before anyone could realise what happened, that plane
was falling down towards earth. Now his next task was to save his plane from
unified attack of four giant planes. But it was next to impossible task. He
couldn't attack them as he was on front. He did manage to fool them for quite a
long time hoping some help would turn up. But unfortunately, it didn't.
His plane
was finally taken down and that fearless person was rested in peace forever.
But he had saved Srinagar Air base from PAF air raid single handedly. Despite
many search efforts by army and air force, his corpse was never found due to
mountainous terrain, adding further disappointment to his family. In respect of
tremendous bravery and amazing war skills, Flying Officer Nirmaljit Singh
Sekhon was awarded the only Param vir chakra of Indian Air Force till date. On
the occassion of INDIAN AIR FORCE DAY.
